Twitter: It’s a generational thing. About a month ago, my husband and I had the windows open at our house and it was around dark. We heard voices in an empty field and on the nature trail behind our house. After a few minutes, there were lots more voices so we went out on the deck to see in the shadows about one hundred people gathering for a party. We went out front and stopped a young man on the sidewalk to ask him what the heck was happening. He told us that someone posted the address of our clubhouse on Twitter for a field party! I ran inside, jumped on Twitter and there it was a field party in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Just a couple entries later, there was a tweet that the police had shown up and the party was moving. Again, went outside and just like a bunch of ants following a picnic, they were gone!
The moral of the story is that social media has more power than I anticipated. As a company, Oasis engages heavily in social media and we tweet but it is for business. I had been told that one of the main forms of communication for the Milleniums is Twitter. Well, I am here to tell you, that is absolutely true!
So, for you parents who want to see where your kids are, get a twitter account. It was amazing to me the posts I saw that night!
