When Email Marketing Services provider Swiftpage made a bid to purchase
the ACT! and Saleslogix brands away from Sage North America last winter, the news was seen as positive for both developers and the products. Sage needed to lighten its development load, while ramping up infrastructure and development schedule for Sage CRM. For Swiftpage, acquiring ACT! and Saleslogix allows them control their own product destiny as ACT! and Saleslogix are the two most common CRM applications that Swiftpage offers integration with. By controlling development, Swiftpage will be able to overhaul and strengthen the integration between its marketing services and these two widely used CRM products.
What does the acquisition mean moving forward? For Sage, customers and channel partners should see a stronger development focus for Sage CRM and added support for Sage CRM users in the US. The fates of ACT! and Saleslogix at the hands of Swiftpage are still a bit uncertain. Early announcements from Swiftpage have been hopeful even as the daunting task of migrating sales, support and development processes over from Sage, takes place. With added investments from its partners, Swiftpage is promising to breathe life in to two products that have received the cold shoulder from Sage over the last several years.
