Tips & Tricks: How to Default Sage 100 Customized (Std) Report Settings/Reports to Today's Date

From Brett Zimmerman, Oasis Solutions Group Customer Care Manager and Senior Consultant

The majority of the Standard Reports in Sage 100 (located on each module’s Reports menu), can be edited (along with the Report Settings that you specify when running the report) and saved as something other than STANDARD.  For example, you can edit the standard Aged Invoice Report and save as CUSTOM AGING.  And upon using this custom Report Setting, you may notice that the Aging Date on the Report Settings screen defaults to whatever date was in that field the last time this custom Report Setting was saved – whereas STANDARD default’s to “today’s date”.  So therefore you would likely need to change the date each time you run the report.  Kind of a nuisance.

Well here’s a little trick (for certain 4.x versions) to get the Aging Date field for the custom report to always default to “today’s date”:

Please Note: Editing Sage 100 data files via Data File Display and Maintenance (DFDM) should not be taken lightly as you can easily cause undesirable results - so please feel free to contact us for assistance.

  1. Open the SY_ReportOption table in Library Master > DFDM.
  2. Find the record for the Report (e.g., AR_AGEDINVOICEREPORT_UI) in your company that has the name of your Report Settings on it.
  3. Edit the OptionsString$ by adding ;<RT> to the end of it. [This syntax looks like an HTML tag so to clarify, it's: semicolon, less than symbol, capital R, capital T, greater than symbol (no spaces)]
